Pot Roast with Root Vegetables |
We went to Jar on Saturday to celebrate my dad's birthday. Chef Suzanne Tracht and her culinary creations had been on my radar for awhile, and my dad had been dreaming about this meal for months, ever since he saw the restaurant's pot roast featured on Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate". I was raised on healthy California cuisine and never had much experience with slow-cooked meat, but the pot roast was a real food awakening. It was great to see such a humble (but perfectly executed) dish show up on the menu at a top L.A. restaurant. Overall it was a very memorable experience, and of course it's always fun to eat great food with the people you love.
